Collections for a Cause Hope by Howard Marcus for United Notions
Howard Marcus Dunn, owner of United Notions, started an ongoing program called Collections for a Cause. It features antique quilts from their collection and supports charities and causes that touch the hearts and lives of all of us. Proceeds from the Hope collection will be donated to The ALS Association, whose vision is to care for and support all people living with Lou Gehrig's Disease, as they leave no stone unturned in their relentless search for a cure.
These fabrics were reproduced from a circa 1830-1840 Lemoyne star quilt from upstate New York. A note attached to the quilt stated that fabric in the quilt was from the dress the maker wore the day she met her future husband. With colors of teal green, ivory, tan, red, brown and navy blue, the next quilt you make could be as beautiful as it is charitable.
