School's back in session, fall is in the air, football is starting and Red Rooster Quilts has a new fall class shedule.  What could be better?  How about more cash for clunkers?

Let's start with Cash for Sewing Machine Clunkers.  I had a meeting with management and I said to myself, self that was quite successful, why not do it again?  So I/we decided to extend Cash for Clunkers.  So, in case you have forgotten, here's the deal.  Bring in any used sewing machine and buy a new Janome Sewing Machine from $350-$600 and get $50 off.  Buy a new Janome Sewing Machine from $601-$1000 and bring in your trade and get $75 off.  Buy a new Janome Sewing Machine from $1001 and up and get $100 off with your trade.  Offer good through 9/12/09.

As always, with a new web site comes a new way of doing things. You can view a calendar of class offerings by clicking "Classes & Events".  Then click the class on the calendar page that you are interested in.  This will give you the full description of the class.  Or, you can click "store" then scroll down to "classes" to get an alphabetical listing of classes.  There is not a class description there yet. You can sign up for classes from either place.  

New Fabric:  We have some fabric back in stock that we sold out of during the NQA show.  We have the Pumpkin & Spice panel and stripe back in stock.  The stripe is the piece we used to make towels that many of you wanted.  We have the Scribble Monster panel and a couple of coordinating pieces back in stock.  We have the baby genius panel and the haunted hallow panel.  We also have the 2010 Jim Shore Calendar panel.  Stop in and pick one up today before they are gone again.

Recipe:  Many of you have enjoyed the snack mix we frequently have at the store so I thought I'd share the recipe:

Snack Party Mix

1 Bottle Orville Redenbacker Popping Oil
2 pkgs Dry Ranch Salad Dressing
2 Boxes Cheese Ritz Bits
2 Boxes Munchens (1 Plain, 1 Ranch)
2 Boxes Wheatables ( 1 Plain, 1 any other flavor)
1 2 lb package mixed nuts
1 reg size bag tiny pretzel twists

Mix oil and ranch dressings.  Set aside.

Mix remaining ingredients in a large tall (heavy) plastic trash bag.

Sprinkle oil mixture over nut/cracker mix. 

Turn bag and shake well.  Repeat every 15 min for 1 hour.

Freezes well in Ziplock bags.

You can really use any type of snacks you like such as cheese-its, bugles, etc.

Hello Quilters~

Just a quick reminder, today at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm we will be doing a demonstration on the Hoopsisters method of machine embroidery.  This works on all models of embroidery machines.  Stop by even if you don't have an embroidery machine you may just decide it's time to invest in one.  It's so much fun, you do the embroidery and piecing right in the hoop.  And, some patterns you even do the quilting in the hoop.  If you saw our Janome booth at NQA, we had a huge trunk show there.  We just want you to see this method so you'll be ready to sign up for our Crazy Compass class beginning in September. 

We have so much new fabric lately I'm sure I won't remember it all.  We have several bolts of the Lincoln Bicentennial,  the whole collection of Colonial Christmas (if you love reproductions, you'll love this fabric line), the whole collection of Scarborough Fair; Gobble, Gobble by Moda, Pashmina by Moda, Rise and Shine by Moda, plus a really cute group of snowman, snowflakes, dots and stripes flannel fabrics.

Tent Sale:  It's finally here.  Our 2nd annual tent sale will be happening this Friday and Saturday beginning promptly at 10:00 am and ending at 5:00 pm.  We will have amazing bargains on fabric packs, end of the bolt pieces, books, patterns, Jim Shore figurines, select quilt samples and , great prices on trade in Sewing Machines and select Janome Demo sewing machines.  In case of rain, just be patient.  We will have a sale but we may have to limit the number of people in the tent as we will have the sides down.  New items will be put out throughout the day.   Remember, all sales are cash or check only.

For those of you participating in our Internet block of the week, we had a little oops yesterday.  I inserted the instructions for a 6" block instead of 8"  It is corrected now but if you printed your instructions before 9:00 am on Tuesday, you have the wrong size.  If you already made your block, you now have a fabulous quilt label or pot holder!  Sorry for the inconvenience.
